Ugh, the light was nowhere near as good as I was hoping so it's a bit grim and grainy, but here it is! My improved Lego Delphinus.
What started out as a small tweak turned into a complete rebuild. The old version was close given the source material I was working from but open to vast improvement. The bow bulge was far too small before and though it's a nightmare of a shape to capture in Lego I think it turned out okay.
Because of the perspective of the main reference for my first version the prow was too long and wide and the superstructure (especially the bridge) was too small. All that has been fixed AND I managed to get the torpedo tubes in. I even have swap out parts for open tubes!
Despite being a fairly minor detail the anchors were one of the parts I agonised over the most, and the solution I have in place is a very basic representation at best. If inspiration strikes I'll update them. The flanks are also a bit gappy, but again it's a shape that just doesn't lend itself to Lego.
Anyway, over all I'm fairly happy with it. I'd have liked to get a picture of the old and new side by side but a large amount of its predecessor was repurposed for this build so alas it is no more!
It looks fantastic!!
